The Rowhedge Heritage Trust (RHT) was formed as a registered charity in 2004.  RHT exists to bring people together to celebrate the rich social and maritime heritage of the riverside community of Rowhedge.

The Rowhedge Heritage Trust was formed by an enthusiastic group of people keen to keep the heritage of the village alive after the final loss of the lower shipyard. This marked the end of a centuries-long dependency of the village of Rowhedge on the river Colne, for fishing, shipbuilding and providing captains and crew for the great yachts of the 19th and 20th century.
